Mercedes-Benz hit with $12.5m fine over airbag recall advice

Prestige car maker Mercedes-Benz has been hit with a $12.5 million fine in the Federal Court after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission pursued it for a lack of urgency in communicating with some customers over the recall of potentially deadly Takata airbags.
The Takata airbags, made by a Japanese group, have been the subject of a worldwide recall across many car brands since 2014.
