Electric vehicle taxes expected across Australia
South Australia's controversial proposal to slug electric vehicle owners with a new road-user tax is expected to be followed by other states, but the electric vehicle lobby says the rollout would discourage uptake of the new technology in Australia.
While the lobby was blindsided by the move, the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) has called on the federal government to co-ordinate any new road-user charges for EVs, rather than have a mish-mash of new laws across the country.
