Steve Pasko started his professional career as a real estate appraiser in Philadelphia before pivoting into mortgage finance investment banking and rising to senior positions at Deutsche Bank. Then came SuttonPark Capital, which securitises personal injury settlements.

Now he’s the money behind Bonza, the country’s newest airline. It is part of a portfolio at Pasko’s 777 Partners that spans everything from South Dakota payday lenders to European football club Sevilla and a small video production company in a suburban Sydney industrial estate.
