Eagers Automotive, Australia’s largest car dealership group with about 200 showrooms and 11 per cent of the new vehicle market, generated record profits in the June half on booming demand.
The company has also benefited from supply chain bottlenecks that mean buyers sometimes wait months for new models to be delivered and have to pay full price without any prospect of the haggling usually commonplace in the vehicle-buying process.
