Air traffic control contributed to 16pc of flight delays in December

Airservices Australia, the government agency running the country’s air traffic system, says its service remained “below expected levels” during the busy summer holiday season as the number of flights reached close to where they were before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Issues with Airservices contributed to 16 per cent of all flight delays in December, although that was sharply down from the worst months of last year – 26 per cent in January – with Brisbane and Sydney the worst affected.
