Australians will have a greater choice of mobile phone plans and faster data downloads, after the competition regulator said TPG Telecom could share networks with Optus in regional areas.

“Our feeling is that Telstra is likely to respond by offering consumers a better deal, perhaps increasing the rate at which it rolls out its 5G network,” ACCC commissioner Philip Williams said.
