Talk proves cheap for loss-maker AAPT

Telecom New Zealand said it probably would keep its Australian subsidiary, AAPT, or put it into a joint venture, although tough trading conditions had forced it to slash its value to less than half what it paid for the business.
The $836 million write-down dragged New Zealand's dominant telecommunications company into a $NZ466 million ($425 million) interim loss.
