History made as Winx foal becomes the most expensive filly in the world
The first foal of champion Australian racehorse Winx sold for a staggering $10 million, becoming the most expensive yearling in the southern hemisphere and the highest-selling filly in the world.
Ingham’s family scion and Winx part-owner Debbie Kepitis was the successful bidder for the 18-month-old filly, sired by Australian champion stallion Pierro. Ms Kepitis’ family racing business, Woppitt Bloodstock, outbid American thoroughbred tycoon John Stewart, who had said he was prepared to pay more than $9 million.
