High Court rejects tax break for Dubai ruler’s horse stud
Tax officials have had an important victory over the global horseracing empire run by Dubai’s billionaire ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the High Court ruling on Wednesday that it could not claim a tax exemption designed for farmers.
The court upheld a ruling in the NSW Court of Appeal that the “dominant use” of Godolphin’s properties in the Hunter Valley was for its horseracing activities, and it was not “primary production land”.
