Magic Millions adds showjumping to the week’s attractions
The Harvey family already hosts a $10.25 million raceday, a polo spectacular and a yearling sale. Now their annual festival on the Gold Coast is putting on showjumping.
Given her daughter Georgia has been based in the Netherlands for the past nine years carving out a career in showjumping and horse management, Magic Millions’ co-owner Katie Page is well-acquainted with the artistry (and the expense) of the sport.
“When you see a 500-kilogram horse soar over a 1.4 metre jump at a flat gallop, turn on a hairpin and clear a triple jump, you’re in awe; you’re holding your breath,” says Page, also a keen racehorse owner and semi-regular rider.
