Melbourne’s premium hotels and restaurants are near or at capacity ahead of Sunday’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, a sign for even the staunchest critics of COVID lockdowns that the city is finally getting its mojo back.

The grand prix in Melbourne is on track for a record crowd of more than 444,000 people over four days from Thursday to Sunday, building on the momentum of January’s Australian Open and last month’s three Taylor Swift concerts.
