The country’s most prestigious yacht club has banned a member after an investigation found he falsely accused another sailor of yelling homophobic and racial slurs at him after their boats collided this year.
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, which hosts the annual Sydney to Hobart race, told members in a letter obtained by The Australian Financial Review that Grant Moore’s allegations against Peter White and his crew were “false and that this constituted conduct unbecoming a member”.
