Australia’s highest-paid sports star has 41m reasons to dance

In early 2023, a 21-year-old Australian racing driver named Oscar Piastri jumped in a McLaren and made his debut in Formula One.

It was a bumpy start, partly because his former team, Alpine, had refused to release him, but also because he replaced much-loved Aussie driver Daniel Ricciardo. He finished his rookie season in ninth place on a base salary of $3.1 million.
