Lawyer and hospitality entrepreneur Faddy Zouky has had his Australian assets frozen until he pays nearly $9.6 million to a Chinese former business partner who accused him of misleading him over an investment in a Sydney hospital café.
Mr Zouky, who runs a number of cafés in medical centres across NSW, Queensland and Victoria, fell out with Suilong Liu, a Chinese businessman dubbed “the shoe king” by China’s media, over a joint venture at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the ownership of certain cafes.
