Pub spending up since grand final week

The chief executive of Australia’s second-biggest pubs group says there has been an uptick in spending across the group’s 234 venues since late September which he attributes to interest rates being on hold for a year.
Paul Waterson, who runs Australian Venue Co, said while households were still looking for value, strong forward order bookings up 16 per cent for Christmas functions were another indicator of a hint of optimism.
