Gerry Harvey was not his optimistic self in March, when the growing coronavirus threat forced most of Harvey Norman's stores overseas and some in Australia to pull down the shutters.
"I was looking at the great depression," said Mr Harvey, who has been in the furniture and appliances trade since 1961 and has survived two recessions.
