Alex Freudmann is departing as the managing director of the powerhouse Dan Murphy’s liquor retailing chain owned by Endeavour Group, and will return to his homeland of the United Kingdom after 13 years in Australia, much of it at Coles Group.

Mr Freudmann arrived in Australia in 2009 and rose to become head of fresh food at Coles supermarkets before being lured across in late 2019 to take the top job at Dan Murphy’s, which at that stage was fully owned by Woolworths.
