Sales soar: Wesfarmers ramps up online spend

Wesfarmers is ramping up investment in e-commerce to capitalise on a surge in online shopping across its retail businesses, including Bunnings, Officeworks and Kmart during the coronavirus pandemic.

Wesfarmers' e-commerce sales have risen 89 per cent over the last five months and appear set to crack the $2 billion mark this year - more than double that of last year - as consumers trapped at home shopped online for hardware, office supplies, clothing and homewares.
