August was a good month for stocks that made their debut on the Australian Stock Exchange, but market watchers say the outlook for initial public offerings is mixed as the broader market hovers around record highs and the quality of offerings declines.

Seven of the 11 new listings for August closed in the black after the latest debutantes, exploration company Korab Resources and solar technology concern Dyesol, both closed yesterday at a premium to their issue price.
