Firms are turning more and more to consultants as they grapple with managing costs and making way for new blood in their partnerships.

Firms including Clayton Utz, Ashurst and King & Wood Mallesons make greater use of consultants in the past six months compared to other firms including Allens and Gilbert + Tobin and McCullough Robertson deploying fewer, according to The Australian Financial Review's Law Partnership Survey.
