One word reshaped legal watchdog’s public complaint guidance
The legal industry watchdog changed its public guidance on disciplinary complaints from it “must” to “may” investigate after a female lawyer contacted the agency fearing her allegations of sexual assault would be dismissed without investigation.
The Australian Financial Review last week revealed allegations the NSW Office of the Legal Services Commissioner (OLSC) quashed a sexual assault claim against a high-profile Sydney solicitor despite a court agreement to pass on all information to the Law Society for full investigation.
