HWL Ebsworth, Australia’s largest legal partnership, is facing a succession crisis after its dynamic leader, Juan Martinez, died suddenly from a suspected heart attack, aged 64.

Over almost 26 years as managing partner, Mr Martinez built HWLE up from 40 partners to its current 285, with the firm lauding him on Tuesday as “a giant of the Australian legal profession”.
