Government shuts down consulting inquiry without a report

Public policy experts are disappointed that a Coalition-led inquiry into the use of consultants and contractors by the federal government was allowed to lapse without releasing a report.

Despite receiving more than 100 primary and supplementary submissions and holding three days of public hearings since December 2017, committee chairman and Liberal senator Dean Smith said in a statement the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audits had "decided not to issue a report" out of the inquiry.
