King & Wood Mallesons partner Caroline Coops said unconscionable conduct laws did not need to be tightened as they were already broad and still being developed by the courts.

It follows a push by the Consumer Action Law Centre for companies to face greater penalties including jail, new unfair trading laws and stronger unconscionable conduct provisions to protect consumers against corporate misconduct and predatory business models.
