Accounting firms that also provide financial advice could flourish in the aftermath of the Hayne royal commission as consumers seek out more highly educated advisers who are free from conflicts, according to the head of a listed accounting firm.
Matthew Rowe, the CEO of CountPlus, is a long-time believer that financial advice should be done on a fee-for-service model that removes the conflicts associated with vertically integrated firms that offer advice and sell financial products.
