Wesfarmers managing director Rob Scott says Western Australia is in a unique position to support demand for materials used to make electric vehicle batteries after giving the green light to a new lithium project.
The conglomerate, which reports interim results on Thursday, said that it had committed initial funding to building a plant in Kwinana to process lithium from its Mount Holland project in a joint venture with Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile.
