St Barbara rejects lucrative Silver Lake offer

Gold miner St Barbara has turned its nose up at Silver Lake’s last minute improved $722 million takeover bid, instead opting to stay the course to sell its flagship Gwalia mine to the original bidder, Genesis Minerals.
St Barbara said it chose to stick with Genesis’ $650 million offer, first revealed by Street Talk, because it was a surer bet than Silver Lake’s more lucrative but “highly” conditional tilt.
