Evolution Mining says its Red Lake mine is performing even better than the company expected when it joined the rush of Australian gold miners into North America.

The Evolution board ticked off on expansion of operations at the Ontario mine on Wednesday as it announced a record half-year net profit after tax of $228.7 million, up 55 per cent from $147.2 million at the same time last year.
