PwC report and public relations spin in ‘fake coal’ spotlight

Miner TerraCom’s public relations outfit drafted announcements citing the findings of a PwC forensic report a month before the report had been finalised, clearing company executives of involvement in faking coal analysis.

A lawyer for the miner told the Federal Court on Friday the statements were drafted as such because a key figure in TerraCom, who was speaking with the public relations outfit, expressed confidence that the allegations were unfounded so the investigation would find no wrongdoing.
