Native title victory over Glencore project
Native title owners have won a High Court battle with mining giant Glencore that will ensure Indigenous people are consulted over infrastructure works related to the huge McArthur River Mine in the Northern Territory.
The court ruled on Wednesday that a dredging project at a loading facility on the Gulf of Carpentaria was covered by provisions in the Native Title Act that gave titleholders the right to oppose developments.
