Mineral Resources managing director Chris Ellison says the scandal created by his tax affairs and culture of secrecy around related party dealings will haunt him forever, but the business will outlive his career-ending mistake.

Mr Ellison expressed humility and defiance as he confronted investors for the first time since he and chairman James McClements agreed to step down over the governance crisis that has gripped the Perth-headquartered lithium and iron ore miner this month.
