Iron ore export growth slows despite December surge

Australian iron ore miners ramped up exports to record levels during December, but the fast finish cannot hide the fact that export growth in 2016 was slower than in any of the past four years.
A record 43.9 million tonnes of iron ore was shipped through Port Hedland in December, easily eclipsing the previous high of 42.8 million tonnes in August 2016.
