A radical strategy to break up diversified miner Anglo American was barely 15 hours old when the company’s most senior executive in Australia, Daniel van der Westhuizen fronted his staff over a video call.
It was shortly after 8am on Wednesday when van der Westhuizen informed Anglo’s Australian workers of his complete surprise at the events that had unfolded in London the night before.
