A suite of Australian coal companies are turning their focus to the booming Indonesia coal sector as the country moves towards becoming the world’s largest coal producing nation.

Peter Lynch, the managing director of listed coal explorer Coka l, says the combined cost of increased taxation burdens plus the decreasing quality of undiscovered coal deposits in Australia have provided the impetus for the move offshore.
