Indonesian producer Nickel Industries has rewarded investors with an increased dividend and share buyback, underscoring the returns on offer for miners flooding the market while Australia’s nickel industry crumbles in the face of cheaper competition.

Nickel Industries, the biggest pure-play nickel producer listed on the ASX, opted to splash the cash after record production and earnings from its Indonesian mines and nickel processing assets in the December quarter.
