Hillgrove talks up pure play copper, signs off on underground mining
Key Points
- Why it matters: Hillgrove is one of the few copper-focused miners on the ASX
- The company has agreed to proceed with underground mining near Adelaide
- It hopes to attract investment from funds previously backing OZ Minerals
The ASX-listed company developing Australia’s newest underground copper mine says one of its main attractions is that it has no need to fly in workers because it is so close to a major city.
Hillgrove Resources, on track to produce the first copper from its underground mine near Kanmantoo, about 55 kilometres south-east of Adelaide, next January-March, is aiming to attract investment funds freed up by BHP’s $9.6 billion buyout of OZ Minerals in May.
