Hard border hits truck driver shortage, iron ore exports

Western Australia’s border controls have been blamed for creating a truck driver shortage that has hampered miners’ ability to sell into a surging iron ore market.

Mineral Resources’ decision to downgrade its iron ore export target by up to 13 per cent because of the driver shortage comes after Fortescue Metals Group listed labour shortages as one factor in this year’s cost and schedule blowouts on the $US3 billion Iron Bridge project.
