Glencore puts coal haulage business on block for $1bn

Glencore is considering the sale of its Hunter Valley coal haulage business, the third largest in Australia, in hopes of reaping about $1 billion to further shore up its debt-laden balance sheet.

The auction could spark a bidding war and disrupt the duopoly in the region held by freight giants Asciano and Pacific National.
