The fight over the future of Atlas Iron has taken another twist with Gina Rinehart upping her all-cash takeover offer from $390 million to $413 million in a bid to win over any shareholders still holding out, but she can forget about budging rival billionaire Andrew Forrest.

There appears no prospect of the increased offer winning over Mr Forrest's Fortescue Metal Group, which remains a thorn in the side of Australia's richest woman and her plans for the loss-making junior miner.
