Fortescue Metals group founder Andrew Forrest will receive $1.11 billion in final dividends, after the iron ore miner paid out a bigger than expected dividend on the back of its biggest ever profit.

Strong iron ore prices and strong production drove Fortescue's net profit 49 per cent higher to $US4.73 billion.
