Former BHP chief executive Brian Gilbertson is expected to seek re-election as chairman of Jupiter Mines despite another extraordinary repudiation of his leadership by shareholders in the manganese miner.

Almost 19 years after he abruptly exited BHP over “irreconcilable differences” in the boardroom, Mr Gilbertson is locked in another poisonous corporate relationship after Jupiter shareholders lodged huge protest votes against the company’s remuneration report in each of the past four years, culminating in a recent board spill.
