Eramet to meet big MDL shareholders this week

French miner Eramet will meet major shareholders in Mineral Deposits Limited (MDL) over the next 48 hours to try to kick-start its takeover bid for the Melbourne-based mineral sands producer.

Eramet and MDL are joint venture partners in a mineral sands business that straddles Senegal and Norway, and investors have bet that Eramet will improve its $287.5 million offer, with shares in MDL closing 18 per cent above the offer price on Friday.
