Coal ban could lift as Chinese companies look to buy: Coronado

Coronado Global Resources says “multiple” Chinese customers have sought to buy the coal it mines in Queensland, adding credence to expectations that Beijing will end an unofficial ban on Australian coal that has been in force for more than two years.

Reports in the past month have suggested that China’s National Development and Reform Commission held talks about potentially allowing a few Chinese companies to resume coal trade with Australia, including China’s biggest state-owned steel maker, Baowu.
