Big banks to miss ‘future facing’ commodities mining boom
The big banks are ill-equipped to finance the coming “future facing” commodities boom, leaving fledging critical mineral miners without access to a deep pool of capital which could further fuel a wave of takeovers.
Australian banks scaled back their mining and resources teams after the last boom, eroding their in-house skills to assess the market and mining investments, says John Stover, portfolio manager of Asia credit at Tribeca.
