BHP, Whitehaven coal output slump stokes price boom

BHP’s flagship iron ore division has made a strong start to the new financial year but labour shortages and weather disruptions continue to hamper its east coast coal divisions at a time of booming coal prices.
Rival coal miner Whitehaven also reported a big decline in coal sales, helping to explain the incredible rise in thermal coal prices in recent months.
