The battle for control of gold miner Kingsgate Consolidated will reach its climax on Tuesday, when shareholders will deliver their verdict on a proposal to oust several members of the board, including long-serving chairman Ross Smyth-Kirk.

Mr Smyth-Kirk and the Kingsgate board have in recent months been fighting a push for change from the company's biggest shareholder, British company Metal Tiger, which has accused the Sydney-based company of destroying value and taking an overly aggressive approach to relations with the Thai government, which is host to Kingsgate's controversial Chatree gold project.
