Wagner family wins $3.7m over 60 Minutes' floods claim
Toowoomba's Wagner family was awarded $3.7 million in a defamation case over claims by Nine's 60 Minutes program that their family's quarry was responsible for 12 deaths from the 2011 Grantham floods.
Only a year after Sydney broadcaster Alan Jones and Macquarie Media were ordered to pay the Wagner family $3.75 million in a defamation case over the floods, Brisbane's Supreme Court on Friday ordered Nine, associated companies and journalist Nick Cater to pay payments totalling $3.6 million plus interest to the Wagner family.
