As former Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland stood and posed for photos with Foxtel boss Patrick Delany and then Seven West Media chief executive Tim Worner, he was smiling ear to ear.

Sutherland and Cricket Australia's then chairman, David Peever, had secured a lights-out record $1.18 billion, six-year television broadcast deal, a significant increase from the $550 million, five-year deal it previously had with Nine and Network Ten.
