Nine and Tabcorp break stalemate to seal Melbourne Cup rights deal

ASX-listed media company Nine Entertainment has sealed a deal with wagering giant Tabcorp and the Victoria Racing Club to air the Melbourne Cup for the next six years, after six months of negotiations.
Tabcorp bought the rights for the Melbourne Cup from the VRC mid-last year, but must find a free-to-air network to sublicence the race to under the federal government’s anti-siphoning laws.
