Network Ten quits race to broadcast Melbourne Cup from next year

Network Ten has lost the Melbourne Cup, leaving Nine Entertainment and Seven West Media to compete for the broadcast rights from next year.

The Paramount-owned Ten said in a statement on Thursday that it had decided not to proceed with negotiations for the rights with Victoria Racing Club and Tabcorp due to “commercial constraints”.
